They pretty much broke cross-platform voice chat in most games that used it and they're just like cool guys see you later but well I don't have a crystal ball it kind of seems like this is going to turn out a little bit better. For one right up front they have addressed a lot of the concerns for instance your saves game add-ons and achievements will be traveling along with you between the xbox one in the windows 10 pc which is great and it's not like they didn't want to before it's just the technology kind of well it's a lot better now. A very large amount of what we do is now in the cloud not everybody comes home from work and school and wants to sit at a desk some more.
So being able to continue wherever you are in a game from where you are on the weekend by sitting down on your couch and turning on your Xbox one. Xbox on it's actually pretty nice but we have gotten a preview as to how it will work with rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War ultimate edition and also Quantum Break. They also kind of make people a little bit worried because they come in the windows universal platform container and what that means is it's not like other applications on the computer although the Xbox one and traditional computers both run on x86 architecture the universal platform container runs in a fundamentally different way. Essentially the games don't work as a traditional process and people who have saved settings for different graphics cards through save catalyst or whatever the graphics control program is won't be able to detect when they launch the game. At least not in the traditional way they may have some other way to do it but in the games that i mentioned the game just running a borderless window and might look full screen but aren't really they don't get to have exclusive control over the video card and therefore are sharing resources with the rest of windows.
On top of that there are still problems with the uwp platform versions of those games their launch was not good and they haven't been supported well either. They've done a decent job patching up rise of the Tomb Raider but the other two are not where they need to be but the force has been off that they made in the same way for the pc Forza Apex does pretty much run like its supposed to.
